2019 was an eventful year, a lot of collaborations came out. Some good, some bad, some indifferent but we're not here for the dead tings.
So let's get straight into CrepsOnDemand's Top 5 Sneaker collaborations of 2019!
'Jordan 1 Retro High Travis Scott'

What??!! - This might come as a shock to some of you, a lot of sneakerheads, sneaker bloggers, hype beast etc has this Crep sitting pretty at #1 of their list(s). For me the hype on these were crazy and it done very well commercially, if you wanted to get your hands on a pair now you could easily be paying into the thousands!
With all that being said... They're just brown/cream Jordan 1's with the swoosh being the wrong way around. These don't really excite man like that, if anything the flipped swoosh is the part I dislike the most as it leaves the Jordan 1's looking a little empty. I do like the pink laces that comes in the box (probably should be the default lace) and the leather does give this Crep a real premium feel.
It would be wrong for us to not acknowledge the impact this collab had on 2019.
'Air VaporMax 2019 Cactus Plant Flea Market'

Cactus Plant Flea Market, not a brand that everyone will be familiar with. It has been around for a couple years but still rising to it's full claim to fame as a luxury street wear brand. Along the years it has had some major co-sings by the likes of Kanye West, Pharrell, Tyler the creator & Travis Scott. Also collaborating with the 'Anti Social Social Club'
The pictures doesn't justify the detail gone into this Crep, from the "just do it" Writing to the rubbery swoosh and the black taping material across the shoe. This is a Crep real sneaker heads will appreciate.
'Jordan 1 Mid SE Fearless Maison Chateau Rouge'

As part of the Air Jordan 1 'Fearless Collection' these Air Jordan 1 Mids were created by Youssouf Fofana (Co-Founder of Maison Chateau Rouge).
Maison Chateau Rouge is also a fairly new brand founded in 2015 by brothers Youssouf & Mamadou. Originally created to fund a social project which helps small African business and developing local entrepreneurship showing a new image of Africa while keeping it's authenticity.
Now when I first saw this Crep, I thought this looks hard BUT it's giving me woody from Toy Story vibes (just me? .. ite we move) Then I did some research and found out it's much deeper then that. The base of the Crep represent that classic UNC colourway, Youssouf much like his brand 'MCR' wanted to add an African touch and there's where the brown comes into the play. The seams at the tongue and the back of the Crep is a shout out to the tailors in his ends as well as Paris being the capital of the fashion world it's a nod to all the "haute couture" from his city.
'Air Force 1 Low Off-White MCA University Blue'

You should know by now when Nike and Off-White collaborations it's usually straight fire and these Air Force 1 Low Off-White MCA University Blue are no exception to the rule.
When it comes to collaborations with Nike, Virgil Abloh's Off-White brand is no stranger with over 30 different collabs since first linking up in 2017 with "The Ten" project.
This Crep had a lot of hype and rightfully so, the university blue just looks clean and I like how they stuck with that colour throughout, then adding the stitched metallic sliver swoosh.
'Nike LD Waffle sacai Black'

Sacai had a very good 2019 with some wavy Nike collabs such as the Sacai x Blazzers but it is the Nike LD Waffle Sacai in the Black colourway that is getting the #1 spot this year.
One of the most hyped Creps of 2019, and it didn't disappoint. Everything about this Crep is cold the black/white colours with the hints of grey. The concept of double everything (from the swoosh, to the tongue and even the laces) gives the Crep a unique look.
Even though the heel of the shoe has a little bit of a back-off going on over there which was weird at first. Once you get your hands on a pair of these LD Waffle's you won't even care!

Competition for places this year was tough but I couldn't leave without giving this Crep a mention.
Honorable Mention
'Jordan 6 Retro Travis Scott'

Travis Scott has left his mark on the sneaker culture in such a short space of time and after he rocked these whilst performing at 2019's Super Bowl the net was going crazy for what would be his 4th collaboration.
With the suede olive the dominant colour, follows with black detailing and red contrasting accents on the tongue and lace locks. One could argue it's more plain Jane then the Air Jordan 1's I was previously critical of with only a few subtle features such as the side cargo pocket or reflective outer-sole.
A fair point BUT with not many Jordan 6's coming out compared to the plethora of Jordan 1's the Travis Scott Jordan 1's aren't levels.
